Target Fish...

There are many stunning carp at Churchwood Fisheries just waiting to be caught. In the 3 years since the current owner has been running the fishery several carp have been given names and have become target fish for many of the visiting anglers. No doubt we will have a few more by the end of 2007. If you are lucky enough to catch an unknown fish or one that breaks the 30lb barrier it could be you naming one of the lakes many inhabitants.

<< 5 Scale (Jenkins)

5-Scale (Jenkins) A cracking mirror that weighs between 27lbs - 28lbs. Easily recognisable from a cluster of 5 large scales centered on both flanks. When the new owners took over the fishery 5-scale was one of the 1st carp from Jenkins and weighed 24lbs. A fish that is expected to reach 30lbs soon judging by the recent weight gains.

The Ghost Of Churchwood >>

One of the prettiest Ghosties you are likely to see.
Weighs anywhere between 22lbs - 24lbs and is a frequent visitor to the bank.
There are several Ghost carp in both lakes and a few that are of similar size although this creature is easily recognisable.

<< Tom's Common

Last out at 26.08lbs.
A young fast growing fish that the owner up until Autumn 06 had only seen swimming around and not on the bank in his 3 years of owning the property. An absolutely stunning specimen and certainly a fish that will keep growing and growing. Another fish high on the target list for many of the regulars.

The Long Common (Churchwood) >>

Amazingly only out once in 2006 to owner Steve Sands at a weight of 25.08lbs. Previous years saw the Long Common grace the banks on several occasions. A long strong fighting machine, resembling a river common. A cracking fish and one that we would love to see several pounds heavier, This could become a good 30lb+ fish. As with the majority of fish in these lakes the Long Common is in superb condition and is probably the owners favorite carp in Churchwood.

<< Sallis (Churchwood)

Sallis was the 1st 30lbs carp for the new owners of Churchwood Fisheries. The fish was named by the captor and what a lovley creature she is. Sallis can fluctuate in weight considerably, dropping down to 26lbs after spawning and working her way back to 30lbs for the winter / spring. This fish can be traced many years back when she was a mid double. Another fish with good growth rates and much is expected of her in the years to come and become a big trophy fish for all the anglers lucky enough to capture her.

Scar (Jenkins) >>

Recently captured in Jan 2007 at 29lbs 02oz. Scar is easily recognizable by a 3 - 4 inch old scar on one of her flanks. This fish has been steadily increasing weight over the past 2 years and fully expect it to go 30lbs very soon. It's a fairly obliging carp and makes regular appearances, although its no mug.

The Italian

<< The Italian (Churchwood)

A big platted pretty Mirror coming in around 23lbs - 24lbs. A strong fighting fish that will test your tackle to the max.

The Linear (Churchwood) >>

There are several stunning Linears in Churchwood although I would put this one up the top. Usually around the mid 20lbs mark and continues to show good growth rates.

<< Arthur (Churchwood)

More or less a full leather, Arthur was first seen by the new owners around the 28lbs mark back in 2005. Arthur has continued to put weight on and was last out at 32lbs in 2007. A cracking fish that would certainly put a smile of many of carp anglers if lucky enough to capture him.

Pickie (Churchwood) >>

This stunning carp is certainly picky, only usually gracing the banks once a year and usually a couple of pounds heavier each time. Came out in 2007 at
35-02lbs and currently holds the Churchwood Lake record. Pickie typifies the quality of carp at Churchwood Fisheries and will certainly continue to make a few lucky anglers very happy for many years to come.
